Time to celebrate the backbone of our economy: small businesses
It will come as little surprise that small businesses are a cornerstone of the British industry. According to latest figures, small businesses accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses at the start of 2018 and 99.9% were small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The combined annual turnover of SMEs was £2trillion, 52% of all private sector turnover and SMEs account for at least 99.5% of the businesses in every main industry sector.
To celebrate and recognise some of these businesses, The Drum in partnership with Mailchimp is holding a breakfast event on 16 September called Small Business Stars. The venue is Summit London, in Soho, London.
The event will include a panel discussion with small business stars to explore how growing businesses are responding to the disruptive pace of technology and innovation, and the tools available to help these new entrants to the market.
The panel will also talk about how technology has reduced the barriers to entry, but at the same time how do you solve small businesses challenges of investing in new technologies and investing in marctech tools when budgets are tight.
