Euan Jarvie takes on UK and Ireland CEO role at Dentsu Aegis Network
The appointment will see Jarvie return to a UK-based position following his eight-month stint as president of global clients for the holding group. Prior to that, he was global chief client officer – a role he also held at Carat.
Driven by a digital ad boom, which has seen the UK establish the highest share of digital ad spend in any market over the past year, the leadership change will seek to further the group’s goal of “innovating the way brands are built”.
Jarvie will report into freshly-appointed executive chairman Nick Waters and bring with him the expertise of running global media accounts. He’ll now be tasked with guiding businesses internationally within a British context.
Jarvie said: “I am delighted to return to a UK-centric role and thrilled to be leading Dentsu Aegis in the UK and Ireland. The experience I have gained running clients and businesses all over the world has set me up well to lead the wonderful team here.”
He added: “Success for me is grounded in a culture of trust and bravery where everyone understands how their contribution is helping deliver growth for our clients. I believe it is the most exciting time ever in the industry with many organisations looking to transform and find new growth.”
The appointment reinforces the business places on the UK market, which is forecast to enjoy the highest ad spend growth rate in Western Europe on the back of a double-digit digital uptick of 10.9% this year.
In line with this, Dentsu expects the UK ad industry to enjoy 6.1% overall growth this year, reaching a valuation of £22.2bn by the end of 2019.
Jarvie previously served 18 years at MediaCom before first arriving at Dentsu Aegis via Carat Global in 2015.
His appointment bookends 12 months of change for Dentsu in the UK.
Last year, its former executive chairman Stef Calcraft departed after less than a year in the job to be replaced by Waters. And 2018 also seen the firm appoint Anne Sewell, previously at Sky, as chief people officer and Dennis Romijn, formerly of Liberty Global, as chief financial officer.
